Glycol Contactor and Regeneration Skid delivered

Frames delivered a Glycol Contactor and Regeneration Skid.

The package is similar to a previous successfully supplied package in 2019 for the same client.

The package will be installed and (pre)commissioned on client’s Floating Production Unit (FPU) in Singapore. Once complete, the FPU will be shipped to its destination in the Gulf of Mexico.

Thanks to great teamwork between Frames and the customer we were able to successfully close this project.

Frames to Supply Gas Treatment Packages for South Ghawar LNG

Frames has been awarded a contract to supply engineering contractor, JGC Gulf International Co. LTD, with dehydration and water treatment packages for production of natural gas by Aramco Unconventional Gas Program in South Ghawar.

Aramco is developing infrastructure for processing unconventional gas to meet in-Kingdom energy demand and to reduce liquid burning at power generation facilities. The Unconventional Gas Program is a series of projects to be undertaken for Jafurah and South Ghawar. The South Ghawar basin is a key unconventional tight sand gas asset in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

JGC Gulf International Co. LTD is building the main gas separation plant in which the Frames triethylene glycol-based (TEG) dehydration and Produced Water Treatment (PWT) packages will operate. The TEG dehydration package is a liquid desiccant technology for the removal of both water and CO₂ from natural gas, thus preventing corrosion problems in downstream processes and equipment. Frames standardized produced water treatment packages reduce the oil-in-water content, typically from 2000 ppmv to 20 ppmv. The separated water is then pumped back into the reservoir to maintain the pressure in the well.

“Frames TEG and PWT packages are compact, skid-mounted systems that can be readily integrated with other plant processes,” says Allwyn Rodrigues, Frames project manager. “We are working closely with JGC engineers to enable their optimum performance for the Unconventional Gas Program in South Ghawar.”.

Nawara CPF 1st year of production

Over the last year, Frames Services provided support to OMV in South Tunisia during commissioning and after start-up of the Nawara CPF.

Last week was the celebration of the first year of production after flare ignition.

We remain involved in this project and #OMV can continue to rely on the capabilities of Frames and its products.

The original Nawara packages were built and delivered together with #Streicher.

Successful start-up of LAMINOL sulphur removal and recovery unit for Antwerp refinery

Frames has supplied, and successfully commissioned, a hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) removal unit, based on Frames’ proprietary LAMINOL technology, to a refinery in Antwerp, Belgium. With significantly lower cost of ownership than conventional caustic scrubbers and solid bed type H₂S removal processes, the LAMINOL process is suitable for low to mid sulphur loads.

Researching the most effective solution to comply with the refinery’s stringent flue gas SO_X emission limits, various technologies were evaluated during the conceptual design phase, including flue gas treatment and caustic scrubbers. Frames’ LAMINOL technology was selected as most effective, while meeting the refinery’s total cost of ownership requirements. Working to a fast track schedule, the modular H₂S removal system was quickly installed and commissioned.

LAMINOL H₂S Removal

Instead of treating the flue gas directly, the LAMINOL technology removes sulphur components from the distillation overhead gas containing up to 60% H₂S before it is combusted in the process furnace. Treating the waste gas in a stand-alone modularized unit meant that the unit was much easier to integrate into the existing refinery facility. The gaseous sulphur removed is converted into elementary sulphur in solid form.

“LAMINOL is a highly effective, and economically attractive, method for deep H₂S removal at high concentrations,” says Lennard Spit, gas treatment specialist, Frames. “And unlike many other removal systems, the technology is robust and capable of infinite turndown and handling feed gas fluctuations that are more representative of ‘real world’ refinery waste streams.”

LAMINOL - Proven Technology

Frames LAMINOL technology is the result of an in-house R&D program initially developed and applied in the biogas market where it provides a cost-effective alternative to conventional biogas sweetening processes. The LAMINOL technology is capable of selectively removing H₂S from CO₂ rich gas streams to a few ppm even at near atmospheric gas pressure and is suitable for treating any gas stream.

Frames completes TEG Regeneration Package for Nigerian offshore platform

Frames, together with their local partners has successfully completed the installation of a triethylene glycol (TEG) regeneration system for a Nigerian offshore gas gathering and compression platform. Part of a debottlenecking program, the expanded gas dehydration capacity will enable increased production from the offshore field.

Frames has designed and constructed the glycol-based gas dehydration unit for the offshore platform as part of an expansion of the platform’s existing dehydration system. The glycol-based gas dehydration system uses liquid desiccant technology to remove water from natural gas or carbon dioxide streams, thus preventing corrosion problems in downstream processes and equipment.

The platform’s previous glycol regeneration system has been replaced to allow increased natural gas handling capacity. Replacing the glycol regeneration package with a larger capacity package meant Frames had to produce a customised TEG unit geometry that was compact enough to be accommodated in the space available.

The Frames TEG package also included a lift gas contactor and gas/glycol heat exchangers. Frames has renewed the PLC based unit control and heater power control system, as well as supplying a gas dew point analyser to monitor the unit’s performance.
